About Us

Our Mission & Vison

Because of the great burden on our hearts that there are so many spiritually lost and broken people in Maine and around the world. (Matt. 9:36)

Matthew 9:36 - When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Unlike much of the United States, Maine is one of the Spiritually Darkest States in the Nation. There are many spiritually lost and broken people in our state without a guide and in need of hope.

To see the people of Maine become Transformed Followers of Jesus who make a Gospel-impact in Maine and around the world.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to see Maine become the place where God does his greatest work in the United States and around the world? No one would expect it, yet God does his greatest work in the unlikeliest of places, doesn’t he?

The Big Question: How do we lead all of these spiritually-broken Mainers to become world-changing disciple-makers for Jesus Christ?

The Answer: Like Jesus did…

To Mobilize the People of Maine to become Transformed Followers of Jesus.

 Let’s Break this down:

- We Mobilize: To mobilize is to prepare and organize someone or a group of people for active service. When Jesus looked upon the spiritual lostness around him, it led him not to act alone, but to mobilize others. In the same way, our goal is to mobilize people for God’s greater work in the world.

 - We Focus on the People of Maine: God’s method of changing the world always starts small (e.g. the Parable of the Mustard Seed). Jesus changed the world through a small group. There is no doubt that we will encounter and invest in people as we encounter them nationally and globally. However, just as Jesus modeled, we must narrow our focus on the people whom we will invest our time. We live in Maine, our focus is Mainers (and more specifically those in the Bangor-metro area).

 - Our Goal for each person at Crosspoint: To Become a Transformed Followers of Jesus There are many who say that they are followers of Jesus, but few who live as Jesus calls us to. We believe there are 5 values that guide “transformed” followers of Jesus?

1. Seek: We Create Environments and Spaces Where Maine People Can Encounter Jesus (Lk. 19:1-10)

2. Surrender: We Cultivate Moments that lead Maine People to Heart-Felt Submission and Obedience to Jesus (Lk. 9:23)

3. Grow: We Biblically Guide and Equip Maine People to follow Jesus (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12)

4. Go: We Send Out Maine People to Show and Share the Love of Jesus (Matt. 25:34-40; Acts 1:8)

5. Multiply: We Develop & Empower Maine People to mobilize the next generation to become transformed followers of Jesus (Deut. 6:4-9; 2 Tim. 2:2)

1. Leave the Nets (Mk. 1:16-18)  a. We Prayerfully Trust God to Direct our Steps, Not Us

2. Water the Roots (Ps. 1:1-3)  a. We are Teachable: Spiritually and Ministerially

3. Wash the Feet (Jn. 13:12-17)  a. We Lead by Serving; checking egos and agendas at the door

4. Finish the Race (2 Tim. 4:7-8)  a. We Strive for Hard Work and Excellence in all we do

5. Fight the Giants (1 Sam. 17:1-58)  a. We Courageously Do What’s Right and Stand for What’s Right

6. Wreck the Roof (Lk. 5:18-19)  a. We Experiment and Challenge the Process to Reach Our Community

7. Stack the Stones (Jos. 4:21-24)  a. We Celebrate because God is at work

Our Beliefs

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in flesh, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, was crucified for our sins and rose three days later. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father as our Advocate and Savior and we eagerly await his return.

(John 1:1-5, Gen 3:14-20, Luke 4:16-22, Romans 1:2-3, Matthew 1:20, Philippians 2:6-8, Mark 16:1-8, Hebrews 1:1-4, I Thessalonians 4:16-17, Matthew 24:29-31, Mark 13:32-36)

We believe the Bible to be without error. The Bible reveals who God is, the spiritual separation of man from God, the way of salvation, and how to have a personal relationship with God.

(II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that God the father is responsible for the creation of the universe and judging mankind of its sin. The Father also sent his son. Jesus Christ, to liberate man of that sin.

(1 Corinthians 8:6, Matthew 23:9, Ephesians 1:3, James 1:16-18, John 14:9-11, 1 Peter 1:3, John 3:16)

We believe the one true God reveals Himself in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All three are co-eternal, co-powerful, and co-equal.

(I John 5:7, Colossians 1:15-17, Matthew 3:16-17, Ephesians 1:3-14, John 1:1-5)Click to edit the title

We believe that the Holy Spirit’s purpose is to convict people of sin, guide them in truth and bring praise to Jesus Christ.

(John 14:16-31, John 16:12-15, 1 Corinthians 2:10-16, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

We believe that there are two possible destinations after death. We believe that those who accept the salvation of Jesus Christ will go to Heaven and those who reject Him will be separated from the Lord forever in Hell.

(Rev. 20:10-15)

We believe that sin is anything we think, say or do that disobeys the Bible. A person’s sin results in a broken relationship with God and with other people.

(Genesis 1-3, Romans 5:12-21)

We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head.

We believe the purpose of the church is to love God, love others and selflessly serve others.

(Romans 3:21-26, John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 12)

Salvation is a free gift from God when we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. This gift is given when we are truly sorry for our sins and believe Jesus died for us on the cross.

(Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 3:3-8)

A genuine Christian who is saved by the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ will desire a deeper relationship with God and other Christians, a deeper knowledge of the Bible and a lifestyle that reflects Christ.

(Colossians 3, Matthew 22:37-40, Ephesians 6:10-18, Matthew 28:18-20)

Baptism is an outward expression of your relationship with Jesus Christ; a symbol to others that you belong to God and have chosen to serve him.

(Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 6:3-4)

We believe that Communion is symbolic in Christ’s body being broken and blood being shed for us. We believe Communion serves as an important reminder that without Jesus’ willingness to lose his life on the cross, we would still be slaves to sin.

(Matthew 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:15-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
